I'm looking to but a gorilla pod for the S5700. Can anyone confirm whether the compact camera version will be strong enough or should I shell out the for the SLR version? given the the S5700 is heavier than the typical compact.
Youre right about the weight and size. The S700 should be treated as an SLR. It is an SLR. So the lens is not interchangeable. What exactly can an SLR do that our camera cant? Anyway, if in doubt at all, get the heavier duty gorilla pod.

Its really REALLY not an SLR. As much as I love my S5700, I would never ever call it an SLR when its not.

This thread is about the gorilla pod. However, if the S5700 Lens could be unscrewed and replaced with a telephoto or wide angle lens would it then qualify as an SLR? I take it an SLR is one in which you actually look through the lens when composing the shot.
