I have the DSCW55 and I noticed that it is exceptionally slow when taking pictures. Even if full light, or with the flash, I press the shutter down and it takes a very long time before ever taking the picture.

Is this a problem any one else has? Do you know if I may have inadvertently set some settings which are causing this result? Im usually shooting on full auto, but I am not sure why this is happening....but it sucks. :(

Half press the shutter and allow it to focus, hold the shutter and when ready complete the full press, the picture will be taken almost instantly.

Imaging resource measured pre-focused shutter response (lag time) at only 0.012s !!

However focus speeds should be quite fast on this camera according to the reviews, less than half a second at wide angle, while flash recycling was measured at around 5s

Of course focus will depend on the light etc, and will be much shorter in good light at wide angle, slowing right down at full tele in poor light, and as with all compacts, focus depends on contrast in the subject, so if having problems, focus on an edge on the subject, such as a stripe on clothing, or a vertical edge to a wall or a tree etc.

Trying to focus on a dull contrastless scene ( a blank wall, white featureless clothing ) will be tough.
