In this wedding shoot you captured the feelings about the day and eachother (bride & groom) very well... it makes this shoot feel more inspired? I like the last photo a lot.

That silhouette is killer. I'd hang that on my wall, large!

Nice! As usual - nothing crazy, just rock solid photog. That AF seems to be in working order - or do you just give that shutter more of a workout?

16 means you've scaled back on weddings this year. 2 years back you hit 1,000 out of about 15 - 20 years doing it, or a wedding just about every weekend on average. Now one every 3 or 4 weeks. Is this semi-retirement or a need for speed (eg: sports photog)?

Oh ya, I meant to ask what you thought of the 50mm 1.2? It seems to get mixed reviews.

Thanks Cold. They seemed a good match so I guess that may come across.

The AF is still sus (although should be better now with the fix), but I'm kinda working with it - meaning I tend to notice prior to capture when it's not quite right. Plus I'm shooting more volume - which I don't like doing.

Change of focus -mainly due to young family which came along about seventy years ago. Averaged about seventy weddings a year for about ten years straight prior to that. These days looking to do more sport but I don't think the dollars are there so I might re-ramp up the marketing next year on W&P - would like to have about thirty weddings a year would be comfortable (which would be a 50% increase in what I've been doing lately). We'll see what happens.

Yeah the AF flaws an otherwise stellar lens. I will say that in real world shooting it doesn't seem to be much of a problem - draws a wonderful picture when it works.

I was kinda hoping that in combo with a 1D Mark III the 'faults' would cancel each other out.

Funny: my CPS rep didn't seem to appreciate the irony/humour!

Love the 2nd portrait "Bride Close-Up"

Depth of field is just right, it really brings out her eyes..........
And the light is wonderful, very muted soft tones.

Cheers ratty
