I am still figuring out how to use this camera. In the auto mode, I can no longer push the flash button on the top left of the camera to always have the flash on. I think I must have changed a setting that won't allow the flash to always be on (the button does turn the flash always on in other modes like portrait). Any ideas on what settings need to be changed to have the flash always on option back? I hate taking pictures outside and having shadows on faces because the flash doesn't go in the auto-setting.
Thank you,
Beth
In Full AUTO mode, you pretty much can't change a thing. Everything is left to the camera to decide. It just tells you to pop up the flash if the situation calls for it.
One way to regain control of the flash (whether you want it always on or auto), is to select P(rogram) mode. P mode is similar to full auto but it allows you to change certain parameters like ISO, exposure & flash compensation and white balance, among others. Of course, the flash button only works when the flash is in the firing position (popped up).

Thank you for the suggestion. I will try the P mode.
