So here's the deal, I want to hear everyones favorite lens, whether it's wide-angle, macro, standard, telephoto, or anything! What is your all around favorite lens? And why?

:)That's like asking "Which is your favorite 'crack' rock?"!
I have about 10 favorites but would need to mortgage my existence to have them all! :D;)
Right now, I find my EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM very satisfying...but the bokeh isn't that great. So...I NEED MORE.
May I have some more lenses, please sir?

My favourite is whichever one has the focal length I need at that moment.
I only have two.... so that makes the choice easier. The Sigma 18-50 is my fav for indoors and general use, and the Canon 70-300IS is my fav for telephoto.
I'm happy with both of them.

Well ... when I was totin' the Canon camera bag around ... the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM was, without a doubt ... my favorite lens for everything between eight to twenty-five feet.
For anything closer ... the TAMRON SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di-II LD ... picked up the slack.
But, I have to admit ... when I wanted long ... that TAMRON SP AF 200-500mm f/5-6.3 Di LD shot very sharp and had fabulous reach. It didn't weigh all that much, but snorkeled out to 29-inches is definitely an "excuse me" lens.

I have a favorite for different situations but if I had to pick only one I would say the 300L F/4 IS. Like CDI, I love my M42 mount glass as well.

60mm macro.
I use it for just about everything; portraits, landscape and sometimes even macro! Very fast USM, well built, not too heavy, excellent colors, nice bokeh and the sharpest lens I've used thus far.
The one I'm just about to smoke.
:cool:I'm thinkin' that the 100-400 L or the 28-300 L, with the push/pull design, could be converted to a nice power-hitter! :eek::D;)
Those two are on my favorites list, obviously...

If it can only be one then it's my Canon ef 24-70 f2.8 L.
Why? Because the focal range works for most of what I shoot, constant f2.8, built like a tank, and image quality that's hard to beat. Plus, if/when I go to full frame the above reasons will still apply.

My favorites are the ones in Christian's signature. Seeing as I own none of them, it's no wonder I'm so unhappy. :(

Well right now i only have one lens- the 28-135 IS kit lens, so that's my favorite... but as soon as i get more lenses, i suspect my favorite will be the 50 1.2 or whatever macro lens i end up getting... So i will re-answer this question in a few months when i'm more qualified to do so!

Toss up between my 70-300mm IS and my 50mm f/1.4.
If I could afford it, I'd buy a 24-105mm f/4

Got to be 70-200mm/f2.8 IS. You pair this puppy with any camera and you instantly make that camera 10 times better;) Well, any prime lens will do the same especially 85mm/f1.2:)
