When printing which is better and at what size does it matter? I have an Epson 1270 printerYou'll probably notice a difference on things like human hair, very fine details like that. Otherwise, you may not see much of a difference. You should try both, and choose your preference. Since you asked about "dpi," you've taken print size out of the equation, since the same judgement would apply to any size print you might choose to make.

Ok so is one better than the other? What do most people print at?

My wife is a professional artist and will supply large format prints (13 x 19) along with her paintings (watercolors and pastels). I handle the printing with an Epson 1280. I have always used the 720 dpi setting. I tried 1440 dpi and compared output but have not been able to see a difference with photos.

I appreciate the response. I just have been seeing newer printers with up to 2880 dpi and thought higher must be better LOL
