I bought the s9500 a year ago, and I hate it - I should have bought a canon, but there we are - we all learn by mistakes, and that's the last fuji I ever buy. Anyway, onto my question as im stuck with the camera.

I'm trying to do landscapes with the fuji and need a large depth of field. The most I seem to get out of the fuji is, I believe f11 - which is great for average pictures but not always for landscapes. How to I ensure on the
s9500 that ALL elements in the landscape are in focus? I would have thought even with the most basic of slr's this would be a fundemental feature of a camera, but it seems to be lacking in the s9500!

thanks people.

I've been using an S9500 for landscapes for the last year and a half. Getting everything in focus is not something I have a problem with, since I'm usually using the wide angle (28mm equiv) end of the zoom, and the 1/1.6" sensor, while larger than many compacts, is still relatively small.

A quick look at the Cambridge in Colour Depth of Field Tutorial (http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/depth-of-field.htm) online calculator shows that even wide open at f/2.8, everything from about a metre and a half away should be sharp. I normally shoot at about f/5 - f/5.6, which I reckon is the optimum to avoid diffraction issues, and puts everything from a metre away in focus.

By the way, what makes you hate the S9500? I find it a great camera, with only the occasional purple fringing around high contrast tree branches as a slight dissapointment.
