I'm not too sure about whether it has much affect on Moire patterns or not, but I was comparing that "church shot" you had taken with the Nikon D300 vs the SONY A700 ... and noted in the EXIF files that you had the Nikon's resolution at 300x300 while the A700 was set to 72 x 72.

Q: Was this on purpose?

The images display similar, yet very different patterns. I believe resolution can cause this due to the way the dots line up.

You're not comparing the 800x600 thumbnails are you? If so, don't -- those are really for judging exposure and color and nothing else.

That said, the dpi on the camera is arbitrary and has no bearing on resolution, photo quality, etc.

Thanks, Jeff ... kind of annoying seeing an EXIF number like that changing, for the same image. Tends to lend itself to even more confusion, even for an older hack. Everyone seems to have their numbers ... be nice if they were the same type, across the board, for really decent comparison purposes. In light of Nikon and SONY using similar sensors, it really gets even more confusing when they cannot generate similar output numbers.

Perhaps it's just me ... looking too deep.
