Hi everyone.. I own the S5700 and I am looking to get a few filters for this camera. I am pretty sure they can be used because there is some threading on the end of the lens. My question is, what size is that lens? I was looking at Best Buy and a few other places and saw some filters ranging from 52mm-62mm at these particular stores. I have looked throught the owners manual and cannot find it for the life of me. PLEASE HELP!!!

The lens threading is 46mm. But you can use a 46mm to 49, 52, 55 step up rings. So you really have no limit to what will fit. If you choose a polarizing filter be sure to get a circular one. The linear wont work.

Thanks Bynx.. I appreciate your help.. I'll probably be picking up a few filters today.. BTW, this may be a dumb question, but forgive me because I am still learning, but are there times when using a filter woulld not be good? I know that typically a polarized filter would be used outdoors when it is very sunny. I take photos of some bands while they are playing show so I will be taking a few shots outdoors, but most will be indoors. Are there any filters that are made for low light indoor stuff. (Keep in mind, when I'm shooting indoor shows, my only light will be the Flash and whatever stage lights are on.) Thanks again bynx for the info!!

There are filters for compensating for fluorescent lighting and incadescent lighting. I believe most filters you shove on the front will reduce the fstop a bit. Outside in daylight any filter should be ok. But inside use only what you have to. A skylight filter or UV filter should be put on your camera and left there since it doesnt adversely affect any pictures and can save some wear and tear on your lens and its coating.
