Hi all,
I am looking around for a bag that I can put my XTi in with either the kit lens or the zoom lens on (which will HOPEFULLY be the EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS lens). I just want to have something, either form fitting for the camera & lens or just a small camera bag--not intended for a number of lenses or other gadgets--that I can keep my camera in to basically carry & protect it if I am not going to be shooting all day but want my camera around.
Something like this, but large enough to allow me to carry the zoom lens would be ideal--but I am not sure if that exists!! http://www.amazon.com/Pentax-85100-SLR-Holster-Bag/dp/B00005ABE2/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&s=photo&qid=1196050250&sr=1-12
I already have a backpack, but I just want something smaller that will let me keep my camera safe if it starts to sprinkle, or if I put it down at a restaurant & don't want to be afraid.
Any suggestions?!?

why dont you just get that one?! :)
I am in the UK so cant give you advice on the shops over there but the photographic stores will have similar ones to that.
unless you are 100 % sure you wont buy a lens or flash to carry around too, I would get a Crumpler pretty boy bag. The reason I mention this is because I bought a bag thinking i would not expand and now have three camera bags
best to get one that you can grow into....

The absolute best way to decide on a bag is to bring your gear to store and see how it works with different bags. You can get advice on how equipment will fit into a given bag but how functional it is and how comfortable it is to carry is pretty personal and can only be decided by you. In the case that you are not really able to get to a store to test several bags, I find the Lowepro slingshot series to be comfortable, well designed and very weather resistant. Good luck.

the crumpler looks like it might work--definitely more like what I am looking for; but based on what I see it doesnt seem to be able to fit a camera with the zoom attached. Once I actually get my zoom I might just go and try to search for something that works myself instead of trying to find one that will probably work & ask for it as a gift.
I was looking for something like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006I5ER/ref=wl_it_dp?ie=UTF8&coliid=I29SI8J72D1SKD&colid=C3BMDDBI9WF7
But less bulky if possible. More of a cover than a case almost--just to protect it from elements and the prying eyes of potential thieves. I'll keep looking but if anyone has some good finds, let me know!!!
Thanks!

for the record, both of your lenses are zooms and one is telephoto. if you're going to have two lenses, don't you want to have somewhere to put the second lens? i would recommend something with some extra room because you're camera is going to accumulate accessories.

I recommend Lowepro's Slingshot series. The smallest in the series is AW100 (Amazon) (http://www.amazon.com/Lowepro-SlingShot-All-Weather-Digital-Backpack/dp/B000BAX50G/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1196795965&sr=8-2), which may be larger and more expensive than what you had it mind, but the bag is extremely well made, provides a ton of protection for your expensive gears, weather resistant (with weather sealant cover on hidden pouch), and can accommodate all but long telephoto lenses (e.g., 70-200mm series).
Mine holds XTi, EF 17-40mm f/4.0L USM, EF 50mm f/1.4 USM, Speedlite 580EX II, battery charger and extra battery, 2-3 CF memory cards, and bottled water.

Yeah....i have a backpack already which will hold everything I have, plus some room to grow. I just wanted something that will protect (and possibly disguise) my camera with a zoom-lens attached, and possibly hold a wallet. If it can hold one extra lens that would be great, but not even necessary, and if it didnt look like a camera bag that would be the ideal.
The crumpler pretty boy bag would be great (http://www.devoncamera.co.uk/index.cfm/photographic/Products.Details/product_id/1173/subject/crumpler_pretty_boy_maxi_xl_4000_new), but I am having a hard time finding it in the. A few ebay adds had it listed, but those always make me nervous....

Accumulate! :D:D:D
That's what happens to us! We "accumulate"! Love, love love it!!! :D Too bad the accumulating costs us thousands of dollars! :D
