The Germans call the time between when the sun disappears behind the horizon and when the sun has not enough power anymore to light the atmosphere "die blaue Stunde", the blue blue hour.
It is a very photogenetic period to make photos of buildings. Even on a grey overcast day twilight can make for quite attractive photos/light. I rather like this snap from yesterday evening. A shame I did not have a tripod with me, so I was forced to use f2.8.
Sigma 18-50 f2.8 EX DC at 18mm, f2.8, ISO 400, 1/13 sec. In post processing corrected the tilt (notice that the horizon is not on eye level).
