Can someone take a look at this link:

and tell me if this is a good deal, and if it is a high-speed memory card? I am looking at prices on a 512mb-1g card for a Panasonic Lumix FZ20 that is high speed, but I am not sure what to look for. Thanks!

Did not lood to see if a good deal. The best way to find a good deal is to do a google search "cheapest sd cards" or "best sd card" or "fastest sd card". The site newegg.com offers a 1gb platinumb Kingmax card for 83.50 and free delivery, why by 512. Doing internet searches is now very easy so much more easier than chat boards. Once you find what you want then go to a chat board or you may just find what you want. Isn't the internt wonderful.

Hey cool Rabbit
The short answer is no it is not a fast card. Ken suggested Newegg but that is just one store. This store is not that great in my opinion because they keep jack up their price. Newegg just jack up their price so it is no longer $83 for 1gig of Kingmax. It is close to $90 now. Go to pricegrabber.com which is the sponsor for this website and search for the card that you want and find the cheapest store too. It is all depend on what you want. If you want the best card and price is not an issue then get a Panasonic card. If you want to get a cheapest card then you going to have to settle for a slow generic brand

Pricegrabber does not always show the lowest cost, as it is a sampling from a standard list of on-line and retail stores.

Nope. Standard card. Always check for a multiplier for faster cards. Your FZ20 can take advantage of cards in the 20X to 40X range, and will only affect continuous shooting mode (vs. single shot mode). Cards faster than 40X will not improve the frame rate.
As a secondary factor, when you start filling a 512MB card, downloading will be faster on a high speed memory card, especially when using a USB2.0High speed card readers and a computer with USB2.0 High Speed.
I just finished a casual test comparing a "standard" CF card vs. a 40X CF card, and found that on a USB2.0HS system the "standard" card took about 2 minutes to download and the 40X card took about 1 minute. On the slower USB 1.1 system both cards took over 10 minutes for the same operation.

Always consider a few years time when you are buying any memory card. Yes the 20x card will be find today but if you change your camera in 12 to 18 months time your new camera may be able to utilise 80x or more, and if you have been buying 1GB or above cards then you may feel reluctant to change them.

Very good point Jim. Either way (future cameras or faster downloading) a faster card can be useful.
The flip side is that the "next" camera may use a different memory format, and the price of "standard" and fast SD and CF memory cards continues to drop almost weekly.

I bought a load of 128mb CF cards at about £25 apiece. They're now selling for around £8.50 apiece. I see that for £50 I can now get a 1GB card. Fortunately I don't need anything quite that large at the moment. My advice is to buy what you need now and don't think of tomorrow. By the time tomorrow comes, the cameras will take bigger, faster memory cards and both cameras and memory cards will be cheaper.
I remember a time when 64mb Compact Flash used to cost £80. I also remember a time when we were all amazed that a VGA camera could be had for less than £500.
