Buying first digital camera

I am purchasing my first digital camera and need some help as to the best cameras to purchase for my needs.

I would like to spend $250 or under if possible
Size doesn't really matter
7+ megapixels
Image quality is very important to me
Camera will be primarily used for taking shots of family and friends and vacations
Probably will not be making big prints of photos
Will be shooting combination of indoor and outdoor photos
Will not be shooting sports or actions photos much
Would like image stabilization
View finder is a plus but not necessarily needed

The ones I like for $250 or less are Canon A570, A630, A720, SD850, maybe SX100, and Fuji F40 (the Fuji has no VF or IS).
