I have decided on getting the Canon SX100 IS for my main camera. I will later be buying an ultracompact.
Budget

* What budget have you allocated for buying this camera? Please be as specific as possible.
Under $250, preferably under $200

* What size camera are you looking for? Or does size not matter at all to you?

How many megapixels will suffice for you? 7

* What optical zoom will you need? (None, Standard = 3x-4x, Ultrazoom = 10x-12x, Other - Specify) Anything is fine.

Actually, I don't have to have full manual controls (PASM), I just want Program and Manual (ability to adjust shutter speed and aperture). I don't have to have aperture priority or shutter priority.

I was able to purchase an Olympus Stylus 780 with IS, 5X optical zoom, and a very small size for $136 on the Olympus Auction site over on E-Bay. It is a great and very small, thin camera.
