* What size camera are you looking for? Or does size not matter at all to you?
Not too small - I have big hands
Features
How many megapixels will suffice for you?
Not as important as zoom
* What optical zoom will you need? (None, Standard = 3x-4x, Ultrazoom = 10x-12x, Other - Specify)
At least 12 - more might be better
* How important is “image quality” to you? (Rate using a scale of 1-10)
Not sure - I don't think I have a very critical eye
Do you care for manual controls? Doubt I would ever use them
General Usage
* What will you generally use the camera for?
general pics of kids indoors & outdoors. Pictures while traveling, short hikes
* Will you be making big prints of your photos or not? No
Will you be shooting a lot of indoor photos or low light photos? 25% indoor
Will you be shooting sports and/or action photos? Not very often
Miscellaneous
Are there particular brands you like or hate?
Always had Canons (A75 loved; SD550 too small - lots of redeye)
Are there particular models you already have in mind?
My desire for a longer zoom camera is the main reason I am looking to replace my SD550.
Thought I wanted a Panasonic FZ18K but they seem to be getting scarce, recently been reading about the Canon S5 IS. I like the longer zoom of the Panasonic, but like the AA batteries of the Canon. Also have read some negative points about redeye with the Canon
Anyone have any suggestions between the two? Any others I should consider?
