I was just wondering what people think of the phoenix 100-400 f/4.5-6.7?
I'v read reviews on the lens, and it doesn't sound all that bad.
Let's just say you get what you pay for. The quick look up I gave this lens yielded results of junk, to "surprisingly sharp from 135-300 as long as it's stopped down to f/8 to f/16". That lens is reported to be, horribly soft at 400mm, lacking in contrast, having horrible build quality, highly prone to flare. I fear the photos you take with this lens will always disappoint.
I know you've been searching for a telephoto zoom. Save your pennies, buy something decent to start with. Something in the 75-300mm range starting at least at f/3.5 and no slower than f/5.6 at the long end(unless you're razr). This will cost you around $500. You'll find as you progress in this hobby, lenses are incredibly expensive, eclipsing the cost of your body easily. Having the body is the smallest part of the equation, the lensing you choose to shoot the photo through will make the largest difference in your photographic output.
