I currently have the 30D with 18-55 kit lens, 70-200 f4 and EX 580.
I've considered replacing the kit lens with something in the 18-50 range but have decided to opt for a UWA and a 50 f1.8.
I love the Tokina constant f4 aperture and that it goes to 24mm, but Sigma is much wider at 10mm. Please help me decide which lens.
Between the Sigma 10-20 and Tokina 12-24 which would you choose?

I have the Canon 10-22 and I love it. I thought that I needed 10mm, but I have found that in most cases 12mm would have been wide enough. I think I would go for the Tokina 12-24 over the Sigma 10-20; it seems to get better reviews overall. I tried the Tokina and I really liked it.
Wide angle is so much fun.....
Here's one at 11mm...(Sugarbush, VT)....

Thanks for the info, I love your shots.
I guess I'm hesitant because I only have the kit lens to serve between the wide angle and the tele.
Right now I'm leaning toward the Sigma because the 10mm is great - I see many situations I can use it in. The Tokina... wow... decisions. Guess I'll have to test out something in that range this weekend.

I would get Canon EFS 10-22, this looks like superior in image to Sigma and Tokina as one can see. My second choice would be Tokina 12-24. However I find price difference between Canon and Tokina not ground braking to force me to Tokina.

I do not have my 10-22 anymore but before I bought it I was able to get my hands on the Tokina and the Sigma for comparison tests. Suffice to say that if it isn't going to be a budget breaker, the Canon 10-22 is absolutely your best bet. For me personally, the Sigma came in second and is a very good deal for the $$. Good luck.

Here is my recommendation. If money is the issue, save a little longer and get the Sigma 12-24mm. The lens has the HSM motor (comparable to Canon's USM) and will fit a full frame sensor body so you won't be replacing the lens in the future when you replace your 30D with a full frame sensor camera.
