So I was randomly contacted via Flickr about the use of one of my photos from the Tulsa area. The email was from a representative of a graphic design firm. The are "creating a photomontage wall display depicting important sites around
my client's Tulsa office. When completed, this display will be mounted within their office."

Anyway, they would like to use this photo - it's a museum in Tulsa:

They've asked me how much I would charge for use of the photo, and that I would retain all copyrights to it.

Any ideas? I've got zero experience with anything like this. Had they not asked about what I would charge, I would probably just have said to use it without asking for anything. . .

This really sounds more like a legal question. Do you have access to a lawyer you trust? They don't even need to get involved but there are so man "ifs ands or buts" revolving around this type of property. I would seek advise just to be sure.

Well it's your picture so you can do whatever you want...however stock photography is expensive so I'd draw up a little contract stating it to be used one time for said project and nothing else, charge them $500 and have them sign it. If they want to use it for anything else they have to go to you again for more clearance and more $$$ for extended use.

If they want to use it for print or advertising charge them four times as much and say they need to renew after a year (or however long you want them to use it). Sometimes rights to photos are even limited to print runs of less than x thousand etc etc.

I work for a direct mail company and we have to renew rights on photography all the time...they are live models but still...

Good luck and congrats!!
