My camera has three options for memory: SD/SDHC/MMC

I know SD is Secure digital.
MMC is Multimedia Card?
what is SDHC

For a camera that does movies with sound and is an 8.1 Megapixel with RAW+JPEG option, what should I be looking for? I already have a camera that uses SD, so I have a couple of 2 gb cards, but I suspect that I should be looking at the other two types as well. Any input on this or can any suggest a site with information? Thanks!:confused:

It's Secure Digital High Capacity. I think they're just larger SD cards. It might be worth looking into if you plan on shooting a lot of movies.

SDHC = SD High Capacity. These are 4GB+ SD cards.
I'd look for a high speed SD card, at least 1Gb but 2Gb is better to start with.

MMC is practically impossible to find anymore, because there's simply no need for the format (which is interchangeable and the same thing as SD in every possible way), but SDHC is the same as SD, but with a higher maximum capacity (16GB SDHC compared to 4GB SD). SDHC is generally slower, so unless you need a larger capacity than 4GB, there's no reason to go with SDHC, and if you do need more than that, class 6 is the only absolute certain way your card is fast enough for demanding video with sound.

A 512 for $56????? And MMC is far slower than SD. You won't find MMCs at every office, big box, drug and camera store, but SD cards are available everywhere
