I posted this photo over in the nikon POTD thread and a few people were intersted in what I did in PP.

I figure, why spend a lot of time making another tutorial when I can just point you in the right direction.

I just found this link today and was shocked, they figured me out! nah, I read about boosting settings in lightroom and I gave it a go - to my surprise this guy discribes the steps I went through almost identically. . .

If you like the destaturation look, here is a good preset to start from. . . (Lightroom only)

Thanks, Bro!
That's the ''look'' I've been looking for. I've searched and searched for years on how to do this.
Joey Lawrence does something similar to this.

No problem Obi - Glad I could help.

I know what you mean re: the searching for years bit too . . . This one and the Dave hill-ish (meaning Dave hills stuff is sick, but I've seen a bunch of other people doing something very similar I like better) look I've been after for a while now. . . argh. Oh well - its a fun trip though. . .

Just another example of what can be done with this process I edited this image tonight. I also added a layer masked Noise>Median> 7 and brought back some detail in the eyes hair ring and hat. . .

Lightroom only because I said, punk! Sure you can do this in Adobe Camera Raw if you want too . . . I think they have all the sliders needed to do this.

After playing around with PS and relentlessly looking online, I cannot achieve the same effect that lightroom gives for photos posted by the OP.

Does anyone know a step-by-step procedure to achieve the same effect in PS?
