First, I am sorry if this is posted in the wrong string. I couldn't find a string dedicated to post processing applications.

I see samples of photos processed through Neat Image and I am very impressed. However, I do not have, nor can I afford Adobe PhotoShop at this time. I currently have Photo Impact Pro, Corel PaintShop Pro Phot XI and several small, limited use applications like ArcSoft and a couple of different MGI's I generally use the Corel more than anything.

Can I use Neat Image with any of these or am I out of luck without Adobe?

ADD: Thank you all for your help and advice.

Hi--

Neat Image is available in two versions: as a Photoshop plug-in and a stand-alone application. Check out their web site: http://www.neatimage.com/

Some photoshop plugins work in Paint Shop Pro, but it can be hit and miss. I have Noise Ninja, but to date, I cannot get the plugin to work with PSP X2. I don't know if you would have more luck with Neat Image.

I use Neat Image and Paint Shop Pro, and I think you can use it as a plug-in, but I just use them separately. I perform a LOT of noise reduction in Neat Image, save the file under a different name, and then add it as a new layer to the original image in Paint Shop Pro. Then I can adjust the opacity to get the noise reduction the way I want it.

for completly free image editing (that is close to photoshops features) you should try GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/) if noise reduction is what you want, try these free plugins for GIMP here http://registry.gimp.org/ and click on noise. other than that, I have no more advise.
