I need help in searching for an FZ10 lens cap replacement. I understand that attachments on the hood are 72mm. But looking at pictures and diagrams the lens cap must be slightly less in diameter. Does anyone know the right size (and type) I should be looking for?

Thanks?

If you are using the Panasonic adapter the Lens cap size is 72mm....

Thanks Gene, but that's not what I'm after. I need to replaced the original lens cap. Per manual it's part #VYK0W96. That's the lens cap diameter that I need.

OK see if I am getting closer, the threads that the ring or adapter threads onto are 64mm.....Now I can not find the ring to be sure ,as I have not used the ring in several years but the inside of my FZ20 takes a 62mm filter and I do not think the ring changes anything........So my best guess, its a 62mm cap you want. Center squeeze is a good Idea.

I have a FZ-20, I do not know if it is the same as the FZ-10 or not. I measured my original cap after I found it:o, it is 52mm. That is the measurement from gripper to gripper with them extended, I figure a 50mm would be what your looking for.

I am wrong again the cap that fits my FZ30 fits my FZ10 and 20....and that is 55mm......but it does need to be a center squeeze cap.....the normal end squeeze fits but is not secure , very easy to knock off.
I do not understand where I put the ones from the FZ10 and 20 as I never used them.

For all your efforts in trying to help me out....thank so much. I'm still confuse thou cause your answers are different from one another.

On the other hand, I just discovered that my wife's car shop here in the Philippines deals with the broker of the local Panasonic. With courtesy discounts and our proximity to Japan, the genuine FZ10 lens cap will only cost me PHP126.00 (roughly US$2.85) per piece. I'm expecting my order for 2 after 90 days. Around the same time that my 'eBay' FZ10 will arrive from my buyer in No. CA.

FYI the FZ10 will be my learning tool for better photography. I hope you two will still help me in the near future with more guidelines and advices.

Once Again thank you Gene & Mike63.

well it seems you are covered for the cap......but let us know how you make out.......It is just while I still have a FZ10 and 20......I use them with 3rd party adapters which is where my caps fit ......but after being reminded how the cap works on the FZ10 I am pretty sure its 55mm, but it needs to be the center squeeze variety which I am sure the one you ordered from Panasonic will be.

IMHO......the most important tool for a camera is the lens hood so I never used the cap you are using.....as I always had a 3rd party adapter and a hood on my FZ10 and 20.

But if we can be any help later on we will be happy to try and assist you.

in case anyone out there still wants to know (since there were different answers to the original question), i tried my 55mm centre-squeeze lens cap from my Dynax 5 on my FZ20 and it fit fine - although not very firmly.

I finally got my 'eBay' FZ10 this week. It had to cross the great Pacific Ocean on a ship and get cleared through Philippine customs, etc. etc. I also expect my 2 original lens cap from Panasonic Philippines this coming week. Cost me Php 252.00 for the 2 (/ by 41 to get US$ equivalent).

We'll finally get the right answer soon. That should help owners of FZ10s and 20s to find the right after market replacement.;)

I think 55mm is correct. I now have 2 original lens caps for my FZ10. They're just a tad smaller than a 58mm cover I have for 58mm uv lens.
