I see Phil Askey won an award for "PMDA person of the year" for his work on his dpreview.com site. It's a good site but dcresource is better. This site has a good buyer's guide and I much prefer the forums and reviews here because they are easier to read. I can only look at dpreview's small bright white text on a black background for a few minutes before I start seeing squiggly lines everywhere and get a headache. I hope Jeff wins awards for this site. Or does he prefer keeping a low profile?

As PDMA (I had to look it up as I'd never ever heard of it before) stands for "PhotoImaging Manufacturers and Distributors Association", I would rather think that Phill Askey's impartiality is now in question. From a personal perspective, if I ran an independent site such as this then I would not wish to receive or be nominated for any awards that might cast doubt on my impartiality. Jeff has worked very hard to be seen as completely impartial - something some other review sites need to begin to do.

Rhys - winning an industry level award is not the same thing as taking gratuities from Canon or Nikon. It's a recognition of service to the industry as a whole, and well deserved. One has to realize that the audience for DPR is much larger than we have here. Jeff's audience doesn't have the breadth and scope of DPR, hence why he will not likely review the Nikon D3. DPR has a large Pro community and Phil would be remiss if he did not cater to their needs by reviewing pro gear like the D3.
DCRP is very well tuned to the audience it targets. I certainly spend more time on this site than I do on that other one and it's quite an enjoyable group of people. I'm not sure the site has a wide enough user base to attract an award like the PDMA, but that does not mean it's not deserving. It's just what it is.
