Hi Everyone

I would love some advice on buying a digital camera, I did have one which was the Fujifilm A330 but unfourtantly (or fortuanetely) it got lost so I am looking for a new one.

I have been looking around and saw the Pentax Optio S40 the other day and loved it. I would love to know what people think of this camera (have heard is really slow between pics and may not take that great shots indoors) and any others in the comparable price range that may appeal.

The camera as with the previous one is needed pretty much as an all round camera for out at the beach, at the pub, parties, and just shooting friends and stuff

Your advice will be greatly appreciated

Thanks!

Hi

If you're still looking for a camera and you're not sure check out:
www.digicamreview.co.uk

The site is great. The pentax S30 was just reviewed there, which I think, is very similar to the S40, except obviously for the different megapixel rating.

for the price the Optio S40 in my opinion is a steal. I love it and still do though I sold it for something twice as much.....

I would recommend it though if you want a small camera with great functions.. taking pictures is great..

All I'm saying price and performance great to pick up for beginers..

What I loveda bout the OptioS40

-had video recording at a great frame rate 30fps
-Audio recording, great for lectures in school that your to lazy to payattention to lol
-the LCD screen was pretty nice size
-Size was really small
-Took AA Batteries you can buy rechargable ones that are cheaper then those lithium ion batteries
-Price was very good for what you get comapred to other cameras

Though if your a Pro then you'd know what to look for already

Have you considered the Pentax S50. I played around with it and it is a respectable point&shoot camera. Very portable. It is not my main camera but it is light enough to be a secondary camera. It is always in my pocket and I takes good photos when the opportunity arises.

With the Pentax S40 and S50, they are good with small prints (3x5) but don't expect poster quality photos.

Sorry if this is crazy late, but maybe it will be helpful to someone.

I bought this camera as my first digital camera. It was easy to use and has some really nice functions. I am, however, looking into buying a new camera because I don't like the delay between pictures and the initial start-up time --both very annoying, I found. I also had trouble in low-light settings. If these things wouldn't bother you though, then it is a good camera. Just depends, I guess :)
