Fujifilm S5000 battery problem

I have a fuji S5000, i was shooting in cold weather and then the camera shut off by itself. I just assumed it ran out of batteries but when i put in new batteries it will not turn back on. The only way i can use the camera is by using a wall adapter and plugging it into the camera. Is there any way i can fix this?

Are you sure the batteries aren't dying? Test with a brand new set. Make sure you clean all contact points.
What kind of new batteries are you using? They have to be at least heavy duty alkaline, like Energizer or Duracel, or those more powerful.

I'm sure its not the batteries. I can take the batteries out of the S5000 and put them into my S9000 and they work fine. I guess i could check if its the contacts. I'm using Energizer rechargable batteries.
