What are you opinions on Refurbished/Recertified Digital Cameras? I'm not talking about the fake refurbished digicams on eBay that are really used, I'm talking about genuine refurbished digicams.
Also, pardon my ignorance, but what is the difference between a subcompact point and shoot and an ultracompact point and shoot?

The only part I can answer - subcompact = ultracompact. I don't think there's any real difference; ultracompact seems to be the more common term.

A "genuine refurbished" camera is one that had a part replaced or repaired. It usually is tested, and should come with a short-term warranty such as 90-days - more if you are lucky.
They should work as well as a new camera, but there is also some arguable benefit if a tech actually tested the camera after repairs.
I don't see a problem with them, though I bought new :-)

I have had great luck with refurbished products. As long as it comes with a warranty, you should be OK.

I've also had nothing but good experiences with refurbished products. Over the years I gotten them from Apple, Epson, and Canon. Same-as-new warranty, and my friend argues that they get even more thoroughly checked out than regular new items.
As to subcompact vs ultracompact, I'd guess that ultracompact is smaller and subcompact is a car. ;) :D Seriously, there are no standarized terms here, so it's whatever a company's marketing department decideds.
