I wasnt holding a gun to anyones head! Just curious to see other peoples photos. Means more to see photos from people on this forum since we seem to "speak" to each other a fair bit. Putting pictures to the face :D

I signed up for Flickr but as it a) does not allow you to sort on your file name, and b) renames images, I abandoned it after uploading only 17 images.

Lost $25, too.

what do you mean by renames images ? you can call your images anything you want. i find flickr a pleasure to use actually. simple, easy and completly hassle free. not to mention a plethora of brilliant images to inspire.

My image file names are in yymmdd-number format. I want them sorted that way - in chronological order. When uploaded to Flickr, Flickr puts them in upload sequence and changes the name to some random-looking filename, I believe to avoid possible duplication. (Download one and see for yourself). If you have a series of "sets" you can manipulate the order (they say). I have only one big set, therefore it is unwieldy.

I'll see if I can locate a thread posted elsewhere. Found it:

I've looked through photos on the links posted on this thread and all I want to do now is post some of those pictures here. There are some magnificent photographs amongst the work of people on this forum.

Seeing all these pics inspires me. They never had this back in the day... it's so much easier to share and view each others pics these days it's mind blowing. And there's so many top notch pics from so many people! I feel humbled!

As for myself, don't have more than a pic or two on flickr yet... I'm mainly a family / social snapshooter and many of the shots I'd share have yet to be PP'd.

Am I the only one reluctant to share people pics of friends & family? It just doesn't seem right to publish pics of people on the net without their express written consent. It's like facebook, IMO. Anyone use facebook here? I can't believe facebook allows others to post pics of people without giving the ability of the subject in said pics to disallow the sharing of said pics with the rest of the world...

I dont really like putting photos of other people up (family and friends) and i dont like them of me anywhere on the internet! Having said that I have put a few in flick of my relatives.

I hate facebook. I joined and thought "Cool". I was having girlfriend issues at the time, and boy that is suicide. People are "poking" me and i am getting the spanish inquisition as to why that person is poking me. then you get photos added without permission (as you said). I unregistered and never looked back. I dont want to be lying in bed wondering who is poking me and what pictures are going up. however, its good if you dont have any complications in your life!

Might start another thread so that people are aware of this. Some amazing shots in there, and you never have to click "Next". the photos just keep streaming on one page....

Depends on the context.
If my kids are involved in sport in a public place and I'm taking photos and they are in them (and the photos are any good) they go on my Flckr site just like other photos. I don't think it's fair or right to treat my kids in any way different to any other kids in that context.
If it's a shot of the family at home or not in public and I want other family members or friends to see it then they go in the family and friends section of Flickr and only those designated people can view them.
As far as my adult motorcycle riding mates are concerned well they are old enough and ugly enough to not be concerned. :)

I would say that really depends on the individual I think it all good in public domain If your not making any money or advertising with the image.

I don't do flickr per se but my personal gallery did have quite a few people in them I've curbed publishing pictures of others as of late not sure why but I know I'm tired of hearing of photogs chasing down starlets.

Plus lately most of my pictures are taken within the confines of a sanctuary so privacy in that case is somewhat expected. Even though it's my ministry to take pictures. :o

Not me, but you are aware that you can search for images taken with a specific camera model on Flickr? Use the last entry in the Flickr "Explore" menu: "Camera Finder".

For example, here are the iPhone shots on Flickr:

Yes I do have a gallery called phone photos or something similar. I really only have it so i can find these sort of photos without searching too hard.

Almost all the pictures here are vacation pictures, I use flickr to send them out to friends. But only the France pictures were taken with a Nikon, and the really crappy Italy, New Zealand and Australia photos were taken with a rather ancient 0.8 megapixel camera which I still have.

I'm glad this thread came back up. I recently did an overhaul on my website. I was using a blog format that turned out cluttered in my opinion. My new one isn't a design marvel but I wanted a clean looking site with an easy way to display examples of my work.

I would appreciate any honest critique. www.shutterdoggy.com

I don't do a lot of web based stuff but have a long standing gallery at smugmug. Only a very small sampling... Some are just snapshots.
