No monkeying with this shot. Its just as it came from the camera. The rain certainly brought out the colors.

Very nice, Bynx. I think this is my favorite photo from you so far :) I love the colors. I'm not a fan of the frame, though.

Thanks for your input Toriaj. Im not a big fan of the frame either but Im looking for something a bit different and attractive. This is a project in the works. You say this is your favorite of what Ive posted so far.....generally speaking, what is your opinion of the rest?

Erm .. :o A few of your shots are simply not my "genre" (monsters, skull) but that's about me. Not about you or your work. And I did enjoy your recent leaf and bark collages. An unusual take, but it works.

Bynx

The monsters were my sons Figurines and the skull was an old one I dug up. They were just subjects for my use of controlled light. All were shot with a single small penlight. Ive deleted most of my earlier pics due to the attitudes of a few goofs that roam the corridors of this forum. My main interest is bird photography and post production using Photoshop. Thanks for your input. Its amazing how many people look at the threads here and how few say anything, good, bad or indifferent.

Gintaras I dont know the name of the fugus either. Here, local artists use them to scratch pictures on and sell as folk art. I have one here I will shoot and post later.

Well I had posted this one in the abstract thread because I had nowhere else to put it. So it's now going to it's rightfully thread and because no one said a word about the photo itself before. Maybe it will get some notoriety here. ;)

The background compliments the fungus nicely. Looks a bit like old corn flakes from the 50's before the chemical treatment.

Toadstool, but it has interesting detail.

I agree with Toriaj about the frame. The simple ones with a little drop shadow work the best IMO. Good job on the collage altho still don't like the frame on that one either, but it is better than the first frame :). Is the first shot a cropped version of the bottom right in the collage? I like the one in the collage a little better, just seems to balance with more of the log showing upper left and also contrast in color picks up a little more with the more of the green leaves also. Nicely done. As always, just my .02.

Bynx

I try not to crop my pics if I can help it. All the mushroom shots were full frames just reduced to fit. When I do the paste into in Photoshop it seems Im unintentionally cropping the pics. I didnt notice until you pointed that out Dennis. I will be more careful next time. As I said to toriaj my frames are a work in progress. Mumbles has a nice polished look to his photos but simple at the same time but I dont want to just copy his style. I will keep working on it. Thanks for your comments.

Just a bunch growing in my lawn - there's lots more - I don't know if they are edible or not??

Bynx

Well Geoff fry them up with some butter and a little lemon juice and if you get back to us we will know they are ok. hahaha

Nice shot and I like the border.

Well - I'm afraid the Lawn Mower eat them all today when I gave the laws there last mowing before the winter
I did, however, just grab a shot of another cluster of them beforehand:)

Kushnirenko - nice cluster of mushrooms - like the photo!

Seems like this thread is a bit slow - those images of mushrooms I took are last years! They are up again this year - but I haven't bothered to take any shots!

Thanks.
Even if they are edible, I did not eat them. They have grown in a city on the brink of road :)

I saw it you little so and so!

You did a really nice job on controling the flash, I tend to
blow out the sten all too often. Fantastic subject, great angle
to capture the detail on the cap. You may now go back to taking
seascape shots......please :)

TheWengler

Thanks Rich. The DOF on these mushroom shots is kind of tricky. I did clip the highlights on a few of the shots with the flash. I had to do some burning to bring some detail back in this one. Ok, ok, back to landscapes (until I find another mushroom).

in the wood not to shoot it.

Love that low angle view.

Gabriel, outstanding work with with sharpness and exposure
to capture the how delicate it looks.

Thank you - I think the result is due mainly to the fact I resisted using the flash ...

Gabriel - once again a stunning image!! Love the sharpness and detail in the white.

Here's one I took earlier (last year) similar mushrooms to the ones I posted even earlier from 2008. Both from the front garden - these from the other side though.
I saw them sitting under the lavender and took a few shots - for this one I got down real low so the grass is slightly obscuring - that was intentional BTW.
Having the lavender hanging over the top adds a splash of color I think :)

Very nice shot! I don't think I've seen one like that, but I'm no expert.

Haha, sorry. Winter is when things start to get good around here. The fog goes away, the sunsets get better, the waterfalls are flowing and the mushrooms are growing.

I came across a downed tree while hiking in the Smokies this weekend. I really liked that the fungi on opposite sides were so radically different in coloration and growth patterns. The lighter colored one reminded me of shavings from a colored pencil.
