Right now I have an Olympus Camedia C-720 UZ. I don't particularly like it, but I'm going to keep using it once in a while when I need manual control. I'm looking for a more portable and faster camera, so I've come down to the Canon Powershot S500 or SD300. I've read several reviews, but I still have a few questions:
Does anyone know of the differences in image quality with these 2 cameras? For instance, I read somewhere that the S500 performs better in low light than the SD300. Is this true?
Are the night snapshot & kids/pets modes on the SD300 at all useful? A friend of mine has a normal-sized Canon camera, and she said she uses automatic instead of night mode at night because she prefers it. As far as the kids/pets mode, do they mean that it should be used for portraits or for squirmy subjects?
Any other non-obvious comparisons also really would be appreciated. I suppose they're pretty much equal for action shots. but I could be wrong. Thanks for your help!
