Hi, my first ever thread. I'm quite knowledgeable about cameras, film or digital but I can't for the life of me figure out where and/or how to activate or deactivate the digital zoom on this camera. How do I know when it is on or off (I assume the visual size in the evf or lcd display gives that away? There seems to be no button or alert as to when it is on. Some help would be much appreciated. Otherwise, it's a brillaint camera!

Thanks, for all your help folks, but I figured it out myself. Boy, these forums are really helpful...

Hi,

Sorry, I just saw this post. How did the quality of your photos come out using the digital zoom? I find that on mine the optical zoom provides more quality photos than the digital.

Digital zoom (for the most part) is just cropping the image. You can do this with more control and better quality in your computer, with a few small exceptions. Quality will suffer; most people won't use digital zoom for that reason. It's not a feature that really has much use in the real world.
