Hello all, new poster here, but I've been reading all the awesome commertary on the boards for a while.
I'm looking to get the battery grip for my canon 30d and had a battery question. Do i need to get 2 extra batteries for the grip itself or do I only need 1? I would use the existing one that came with the camera and slip it into the grip.
Yes I'm reading the manual, but I don't think I'm on that portion yet or maybe i just missed it. :)

If the grip is anything like the grip for the XT, a section of it slides into the existing battery compartment and the base takes either one or two batteries - how ever many you feel like using.

On the subject of batteries, I highly recommend http://sterlingtek.com/ for spares. They last about 40% longer than the original battery and I got 2 of them for half the price of a Canon. Well worth it.
