Smudged pictures with Canon PowerShot A80

Hi,

I have got a Canon PowerShot A80 digital camera.
Recently, I have been encountering a major problem with the camera.
The picture on the LCD is all smudged (usually in a purple color) and most of the pictures come out all smudged (like in the attached files).

Has anyone ever encountered this ?
Do you know what the problem could be ?

b.t.w. The camera is treated very well and hasn't been dropped or anything like that.

Your sensor is dying. It may be covered by a warranty repair.
