I got a call yesterday, asking if I wanted to fill in for the Newsboys Concert that was in town. Now, I am in no way a concert photographer/claim to be a concert photographer. But I figured, why not. A press pass is a press pass and I thought it would be some good experience.
A few things I learned:
-I need fast glass. I made *it work* but if I had some 2.8 zooms, I could've made it work better. Also AF-S would've been good on my 50mm.
-High ISO. I had my camera set at its highest the entire time.
-Preplan shots. I didn't get the exact shot I wanted because of stuff in the way.
-Be prepared to overcome obstacles. To access the pit, I had to jump a baracade and some subwoofers. I'm glad I am not a candyass.
-Manual mode all the way. In camera metering, while good, can't deal with what is happening. Underexposing was neccessary.
Anywho, all this was shot with a worn out Nikon D70s at 1600 ISO. Lenses were either an 18-200VR or a 50mm f/1.8. Every photo here is straight out of the camera (I don't have my computer with photochop on it for the next few days).
