No memory space . . . or is there?

Hi all, I'm new here with a problem. I've got a DSC-P73 Cyber-shot that throws the "No memory space" when I go to shoot a picture. All the pictures have been deleted from the memory card, so it's definitely empty. I'm thinking there's some hidden file or something that's not getting rid of the space so the camera thinks the card is full. Any suggestions?
