Camera response with flash

I've noticed that my H5 has a long delay between pressing the button and the photo being taken. This is only a problem in auto mode where the flash is required. Is this a problem with my batteries? I haven't quite figured out if I need to hold the button down, or press and release for quickest results. I miss a lot of great shot because it takes so long.

Iirc while the flash is charging the flash indicator should be blinking.

The H series have very slow recharging flashes, anywhere upto 12s to recharge, so if flash is turned on you have to wait till it charges before the pic can be taken.

You could always turn down the flash level or increase the ISO but I can't remember if you need to come out of auto mode to do this.

At the very least try P mode which is auto mode but it allows you to change more settings if you want.
