View Full Version : Media Card advice please..........

I currently use a SanDisk Ultra II SD 2GB card for my Panasonic FZ8 Lumix Camera.

I prefer to use the Media card reader that is built in to my 2 year old Dell Dimension 5150 rather than connect the camera with a cable........ (no need to worry about battery charge)

I am considering buying a 4GB SD HC Memory Card. I know it will work well with my camera but SD HC is fairly new and it won't work with many SD devices.

Before I buy the new card I need to know that my 2 year old Dell Media Card Reader will be able to recognise & read this type of card?

Call Dell. They might know.

You would think.................but they only give Technical Support if you are still in warranty!

My guess is that it won't, several people have reported problems with SDHC cards in older computers.

Kev....with all due respect, does it matter ?

You need the new Memory Card. If the reader doesn't work, buy a new reader :)

I recently purchased a 4G Compact Flash Card and then found that my reader couldn't read it (although it could happily read 1G Cards). So I bought a new reader....they're pretty cheap when you compare it to the "total" cost of the hobby :D
