I just bought myself a Fuji s700.
I love the options, usability, and user friendly nature of this camera.
I am running into a problem that my turn me off of this nifty little camera, but before it does, I need to know if this is an aberration, or affects all s700 models. I have searched the forums, including speaklightly's exceptional thread of s700 pics, and can find no one else with this particular issue.
In the attached pictures, the reds are way over blown. This happens in just about every shot. In auto mode, program mode, every setting I put in seems to give back the same over blown reds.
I have two daughters, who love pink. If this is "just part of the camera" I may have to give it back for a new model. However, i would prefer to just have to return this one for the same one... hoping this issue is just a problem with this individual camera. Chalk it up to a manufacturing defect, and swap it out, ya know?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Doesn't look too bad to me. Some of the pink on the face in #2 is probably just reflecting off the shirt. I'm not familiar with that camera so I don't know if you have some color/saturation/"bright" setting options.
I'd try some shots of some neutral gray subjects, as any color shifts will show up there. One of those sample "paint" color chooser cards may work, too.

These look okay. The same picture can look different depending on where you view it.

Was the second pic shot in macro mode? I would use that setting when shooting close ups of people without a flash, I also have a S700 and love the camera, the instuction manual maybe long but it's worth it read the whole thing, The setting "N" (natural) also works great if you don't want to use the flash, try the dual feature that lets you take 2 pics of the same subject, one with flash and one without, it's fun to play with.

I color corrected the picture you disliked but now that you know it's the computer's fault, it shows what a simple graphics program can do

The color's a bit hot but Barry cleaned it up pretty good in his repost. I don't see anything that would make me want to bring it back for return. You could check your video card / monitor setting to make sure it just not the way it's being displayed. A print will give you a fairly accurate indication of the true colors as well.

I have a Fuji S5700 (S700) and sometimes the reds can seem a bit oversaturated but I have 2 other Fujis and an old Olympus - they all tend to do the same thing depending on shooting conditions. My older S3500 has even more red saturation than the S5700. CCD sensors can be quite sensitive in the red end of the spectrum (they are esp sensitive to infra red and often have an inbuilt IR filter to prevent this.)
Are you using the 'chrome' setting instead of normal? (F-finepix button). This tends to increase the contrast and color saturation to 'look' like color slide film.
If the reds are a bit strong, I just reduce the red channel a bit in my PP program (Photofiltre - a great free program with lots of features).
Cheers
Rob
