Which direction do you see the dancer turning?

I found this on the All Day I Dream of Photography blog.
Clockwise for me....
But I'm not characteristically right or left brained?

The image periodically switches directions, unless I'm much mistaken. I don't see that as an indication of the dominant brain hemisphere...
However on other tests I have taken in the past, I'm predominantly left brained. Logic all the way.
First I saw clockwise, then staring at the foot touching the ground and the shadow underneath she switched directions. I tend to be left brained according to the descriptions. I am able to see the dancer either direction.

I have tried doing as you suggested, but she still circles on.
I also tried covering one eye, then the other. I did manage to get her to flicker and stop for a second.
Dunno what that means.
I suppose I am clockwise for life.
What is a "Left Brain"? Haven't seen it! :D:D:D
I only "rely" on logic when I need to argue with folks here on DCRP! :p
I only see clockwised lol how do u see the other way?

Ha!
I reloaded the page to see your posts and I noticed at first it was spinning counterclockwise.
Immediately she swapped.
What sort of trickery is this?

I can see both at will. Interesting find.

I can make her turn with my mind!!! I am a Jedi! :D
I could only see clockwise at first, until I read TenD's post, and tried again. I'm more left-brained according to the description.

Hehehe... I'm sure she turns in both directions. I see it. And I think everyone else can see it too, if you keep looking at her for a while. The picture is a gif-animation, and it's made so that she switches direction after a period of time. ;)
But...it would be really cool if you were a Jedi! :D
BTW - I have no brains. I left my right brain somewhere, and my left brain went right out looking for it... :p

And just because I wrote that, she doesn't seem to change direction for me anymore! Weird...

That is weird, Lukas ...
I think maybe it's not a fake, but a true optical illusion. Because I can watch her go clockwise for a long time, and then when I decide to make her switch, I can do it pretty much right away by waiting till her foot gets to the side and then imagining it's coming back toward me.
Unless the GIF can read my mind ... maybe it's the GIF that's a Jedi

I kept that image up for over an hour while I was surfing and she never changed....
I dunno.

Heheh. Clever image, although it says nothing at all about brain hemisphere function.
I too thought it was clockwise for a long while, but paying strict attention to the foot (like toriaj mentioned), I found I can switch directions at will.
Interesting topic, though. Well, I'm left-handed, so should be primarily right-brained, so they say. And indeed, much of my childhood was very patently right-brained (I would draw from the cradle, pretty much, and did it pretty much all the time till my mid-teen years), what with pictures, art, music, and my temperament in general. But as I've grown older, I find I use my left hemisphere more and more, to the extent of not being able to connect with a drawing like I could before. Also my creativity seems to have dropped on the imagination side (irksome seeing as I'm trying to write some fiction), while increasing on a more technical side (such as linguistics and photography).
I'm a turncoat as far as brain hemispheres, then.
I've gotten so good at it that I can make it switch back and forth a HALF turn each way...so it never rotates...
Easy it is, my young padawans!

She pivots on her right leg and spin backward (or counter clockwise if viewed from the top). Is that left or right brain?
That's the only direction she spins for me... I am not sure how anyone else can see otherwise...
If she does spin different ways to diff. people you can show it to a group of people and watch them argue. :D

This has to be the most time consuming thread ever. toriaj, did I post somewhere in this thread that I'm not seeing (prior to this)? I must be going crazy.

Sorry, Lukas! I guess I was remembering Wesan :o Or George Lucas, maybe :D
JTL, I discovered that too :) ObiJuan, are you proud of your padawans?

Very proud indeed!
I finally was able to consciously make her go whichever direction I wanted.
I focused my eyes [slight squint] on her pivoting knee and she slowed, then changed direction.
PS-I got yelled at by my girlfriend for staring at a silhouette of a naked, large breasted girl for hours! :o
I promised it was at her feet and knees! :p

Yes! She switches direction again! I can see her spin both clockwise and counter clockwise again. I can't control it myself completely yet, though. But if I do like TenD described, she changes direction sometimes. Don't know how it's possible...but it happens!
This was cool! I'll have to keep looking and practising and try to become as good as masters toriaj and JTL. :D

Tip:
If you download the picture and view it on your computer offline, instead of online as here, she spins faster. At least on my computer (using ACDSee 9 Photo Manager). The higher speed offline seems to make it a bit easier for me to change her direction. And the motion becomes smoother too. :)
This was cool! I'll have to keep looking and practising and try to become as good as masters toriaj and JTL. :DIt is possible to learn this power...but not from a Jedi...;)
Have you heard the story of Darth Photographus The Wise?

Darth Photographus The Wise? Is that the next Star Wars episode? Episode f7? I can't wait to see it, then!! :D:D When is it released? In 1/500 sec? :p

Master JTL, please tell me about Darth Photographus The Wise. I want to learn the true power of the force and become the most powerful Jedi ever!

Good fun this! I saw her switch directions before I read any other responses. Haven't got to the change-her-direction-at-will stage yet, but if I know myself, I can be both...at will.....that's the problem....I don't know what my will will do:). Echo 'The Piano'.
ObiJuan, ROFLMAO!!:D for you know what. Bet my husband will be even more upset;)
Best Regards

At first I could only see counter clockwise, but I've figured out the trick to change the direction at will. Only focus on the legs and squint your eyes. Now, here's the trick. As the raised leg passes behind the leg she is standing on, try to picture it infront, and when the raised leg passes infront, try to picture it behind. Once you've tricked your brain and she changes direction, refocus your eyes and voila. I found it helped not to focus on the direction she is spinning but the position her body should be in when spinning in a certain direction. Try it, let me know what you think.
