Hi
Thank you for reading my post
I have a D40 camera and my biggest lens is Sigma 150mm Macro.
I want to buy a tripod and a ball head, after some research based on my budget (300 USD for ball head and tripod) i find two ball head and one tripod
Manfrotto 190XProB tripod and one of 322RC2 and 488RC2 ball heads.
Can you please share your thought with me about purchasing them?
I usually do Macro photography and usual thing that an ameture would do.

I choosed 190XProbB as its centeral leg can act as a horizontal axis and can be usefull for Macro shots.

here are links to Manfrotto site:

I have the 488RC4 and like it. It's a bit much for my uses, but it works well.
The levels are great!

Along these lines, can anyone offer some advice on choosing the 486 versus the 488 ball head? I'm considering the same combination as the original poster, but am having a hard time deciding whether the additional tension control on the 488 makes it worth the extra size, weight, and cost over the 486 -- both would be more than adequate for the equipment I own now, and intend to own in the future (my largest lens is the 70-200 f/4L IS. The only thing larger on my wishlist is possibly the Canon 100-400).

The 488's tension control is different.
The knob has a 1/5 turn difference from locked to loose.
I usually set it to almost tight and force it to the angle I want.

I've used a BH55 and Markins head, both had real control over tension.
I'm thinking about getting a 486 because of the lower weight.

I'm not sure which ball head I have.... but I know the my legs are the 190xprob. I love the flipping central leg, I use it all the time for getting down low.
