Sole Shooter

Ok, I’m looking for a lens that will give me some additional reach over my current Nikon 55-200VR lens w/ my D80. Intended use will be shooting stationary birds and animals (I hope they’re stationary anyway). Hope to at least use my monopod or possibly my tripod if conditions allow it. Therefore, VR or OS are NOT totally must have. I think my budget is around 1000 USD so at that price point the options seem to be:
1. Sigma 50-500 f/4-6.3 EX DG APO HSM for $999
2. Sigma 80-400 f/4.5-5.6 EX DG OS APO IF for $980
3. Sigma 100-300 f/4 for around $900 with optional Sigma TC 1.4 for an extra $155.
Which of the above gives me the sharpest IQ and/or bang for my buck? Also how do any of them compare to the Nikon lens below? I realize an individual will not have access to all of these lenses so I don’t expect a “battle royal” style review of them but rather if someone has used or owned one of them if you can comment on the individual lens that would be very much appreciated. I’ll use that info to weigh the pros and cons of the lens and make a decision from that.
