Hi everyone,
i'm interested in soon purchasing a Canon Digital Rebel XTi (unless anyone can strongly convince me otherwise)
i want to use it for a lot of travelling, including hard to get to places, or wet areas. While the camera is not in use, and packed up, is there any carrying bags available that are completely waterproof, and won't have to fear the slr getting wet?
thanks

I usually use the Tamrac expedition series. The bags are designed from the bottom up for keeping water out and the materials are water resistant. There is an optional rain cover for heavy downpours but I have never had to use it. I actually just spent several weeks in the rain forest and nothing got wet. I know that Lowepro also offers weather resistant bags. I have the Lowepro AW200 and there is a built in rain cover that is very handy. I believe that all three of the sling bag series have the same cover. Good luck!

Please note the difference between water proof and weather resistant. While the Tamrac Expedition and LowePro AW series are great bags (I've got a couple of the LowePro AWs), they are not "waterproof".
If you want a bag that can fall in the lake and have the equipment inside safe, you need to look at the LowePro DryZone or a Pelican case. The LowePro is soft case backpack (that'll float if dropped in water) while the Pelican is hard (stronger, more protection, but not as convenient to carry).

you can also just stick the camera and its padded case in a dry bag like the ones made by seal line...

I am very much interested in this topic as well.
Was hoping for some feedback on the following two backpacks. I think I have narrowed it down to these two.
The LowePro DryZone Rover

The Seattle Sports Aquaknot

I am a fly fisherman who likes to carry camera gear with me on the river....obviously this causes lots of stress for the potential fall.
The LowePro has a top section for lunch, rain gear, etc while the bottom compartment is camera specific.
The Aquaknot has one large compartment...which would cause less organization.
Is either more "waterproof" than the other?
