Hi
thank you for reading my post
I have a Nikon 40D camera and a Sigma 150mm Macro lens.
I want to buy a monopod or tripod to support my camera when i am taking photos.

I can not understand what is difference betweena monopod and tripod from usecase view so I am looking to find out whehter a monopod or tripod i should focus my research.

Also, I want to find out a monopod or tripod with following features and I hope you let me know in case that you have any suggestion or experience.

1-Suitable for macro shoots.
2-Easy to carry.
3-well made.
4-Reasoable price.

Also, selecting a ball head is another issue which i am looking for advice about it.

a monopod will be just about useless for macro shots. i have the manfrotto 190 and 322 ball head with a d80 and sigma 150mm and it works fine. if you want something heavier and taller then the 055 legs will work.

Thank you very much.
I find following products description for models that you mentioned.
http://www.pictureline.com/products/328/Manfrotto_190_MF3_Magfiber_Tripod/
http://www.pictureline.com/products/257/Manfrotto_322RC2_Grip_Action_Ball_Head/

Am I correct?

But overall price of this two artifact is far above my budget, I am looking for something cheaper, do you have any suggestion?

In some photo I saw that center leg of a tripod turned 90 degree and let the photographer take photo of underlyig land, is that a feature of all tripods?

Thanks

the head is correct, but the base is this one...

thats pretty much the cheapest of the hi quality setups. there are of course cheaper options but they are not as stable. keep in mind that the sigma is a heavy lens so you need something solid.

not all tripods can move their centre columns. most manfrotto's can though.
