I'm surprised that my A95 photo files aren't as large as I thought they would be. After digging into it, I see that there are different compression settings and I'm using the FINE setting, not superfine. Can anyone tell me what I'm loosing by using compression? If image quality doesn't suffer, it's great! I can get well over 330 photos on my 512 CF card. But something tells my you don't get something for nothing with this stuff....
Any links to this kind of photo tech stuff would be appreciated!

Thanks! :)

After searching the forums, I found plenty of posts on this subject already. I'm setting it at superfine and when I need to I'll buy another CF card!

Feel free to share your thoughts though.... :D

Actually it depends on what you do. If you shoot to print 4x6, to send emails and put on website, Superfine is a bit too much for you.

But if you shoot, because you like it and will print what you will like, the size you will feel like it. Then 5mp Superfine is PERFECT. Actually there has been some people saying that Fine was good enough for them and that is right, Fine is a mode that will give you pretty good results, results pretty similar to what a Fuji camera would give you in terms of compression. You may even never notice the difference, but if one day you do, then you'll regret not having used the Superfine mode.

I have grand illusions about my photos filling wall space everywhere so I'll definitely need that superfine ;)
