TZ1 - video playback freezes but sounds plays as normal

hello all,

i have a TZ1, and one of the reasons i bought it was great video, but i have a problem whereby playing back the video on my computer the video picture freezes after about 5 seconds while the sounds continues to play as normal until the end of the video.

this didn't used to happen back in summer of 06 when i bought the camera.
i use media player classic, but have tried other video players.
a while back a video that freezes on my computer played back fine on someone elses.

has anyone else had a similar problem?
and if so were they able to solve it?

i am wondering if its a codec problem, whereby the .mov codec used on the camera to encode the video is now outdated compared to the more modern video player .mov decoders.................
but this is yet to be proven.

The first step is to find out whether it's the camera or the video player software. Test it on a few other computers; if they work then it's the software on your computer. Who knows these days with the many auto updates?
Sorry I don't have TZ1 but it's a gut feeling it's software stuff up in the computer.
