View Full Version : Narrowed it to s70 vs C-7000 (or maybe SD300!)

I've been reading lots of reviews and opinions and have narrowed it down to these three:

-Canon s70 (I like the quality of pics, and somewhat compact design, but maybe a little too big for my tastes)
-Olympus C-7000 (seems to have roughly the same functionality and quality, love that its much smaller, but I don't see too many opinions of this camera?)
-Canon SD300 (Gorgeous camera, love the size, but my budget is $450 and I want the best for my money)

I'm looking for a camera I can take with me everywhere, to work and on the subway back home, and to party's or the bar with friends that i can whip out and take a quick pic without being so intrusive, but I want to have good pictures that aren't blurry or grainy. The s70 seems to be the most loved of the 3 for features, I could probably fit it in my pants I guess. My brother has one and I've fooled around with it and the pictures are quite nice, but I love the SD300 size and hear it holds up quite well in picture quality (even though it is in a different class), though my budget is around $450 +/-. The C-7000 seems to be inbetween in size and a bit more stylish than the s70, but the price is $100 more. I've never used a digital camera with manual controls but I'm interested in learning, however for the purpose of this a nice quality P&S is what I'm looking for, with some manual in case I need it (though probably not necessary, this isn't for professional). I won't be doing any large scale prints either, but I like the ability to shrink or resize my pics. Anyone else go through this dilemma (well, trilemma in my case) and have any experience with these camera's? Are there any other's that might fit my criteria that I'm missing? Any help it much appreciated! :) I've seen all the camera's in store but i'm still undecided.

I just picked up an SD300 for $325 at dell.com, the deals are pretty good right now. Add a 512 or 1 gig card for $30 to $80 and an extra battery for $30 and you can meet your target.

I can't compare it against the other cameras you mentioned, but I just wanted to point out that this could fit in your budget.

Thanks for the input, how do you like the camera? are the shots nice? Unfortunately the sd300 on display at my local bb has no power so i can't try it out.
