A friend wanted a camera recently and I had written off the k10d @ 1K dollars pretty much but happen to be looking threw B&H pricing and realized you can now get a k10d + 18-50 sigma macro for about 1K combined now.

Pretty nice deal, something to consider for those looking for a "cheap" but featured system. The vertical patern noise at ISO 1600 (in darker conditions) is an issue but they do have some of the nicest primes ever made. (77 1.8, 43 1.9) which rival canon L primes (minus the AF of course, which is nothing to understate)

Until sept 30th running a 50 MIR with body only and quite a few rebates on lenses.

Just figured I'd let everyone know.

Oh and from personal experience:

Pro's: Build quality, good raw quality, great features for price. Nice viewfinder, weather sealed, in-body IS system.

Con's: Vertical Patern noise at high ISO 800+ underexposed and 1600 in shadows. AF system not as good as c/n in darkness. AE "limits" and doesn't attempt to guess at darker conditions (IE: At 0 EV the AE shuts off and just reports the bottom shutter speed at 0 EV for that F stop, 1/8th of a second for the kit lens at ISO 400)

With the new AF SDM lenses they are offering especially the 60-250 F4 once that gets reviewed it'll be interesting system. In-body Is has same benefits and shortcomings of the sony in-body system but does offer some neat features like 77 1.8 combined with body IS which is an incredible combo in terms of indoor portrait shooting.
