View Full Version : FZ20 in cold weather?
I am planning on purchasing an FZ20 for a trip to Yellowstone in Feburary. I know cold can be a problem for batteries. Does anyone know how well this camera works in the cold, or what kind of life span I might expect from batteries in that kind of weather? I know that answer depends on how many pictures I will be taking, and I don't know (probably a lot!).
Anyone have any experience with cold weather photography with this camera?
Thanks in advance! :)

Well, I did try mine inside under rain (that was crazy) and cold weather (-4ºC). I don't think it will have any effect on battery life, but I might be wrong.

I remember someone from Norway saying they used an FZ10 for a couple days
while crosscountry skiing. They said it as very cold and they removed the battery to keep in their pocket to keep it warm.
I envy you going to yellowstone in the winter, I expect to see Wolf pictures when you get back.
If you are staying in motels and snowmobiling or using snow cats(coaches) my guess is 2 batteries will last a day. If you can charge them at night you should be fine.
Let's just say it's nice to have friends in cold places :) or I would never be able to do this trip.
If I get any good pics I'll be sure to post them! I just ordered my camera today, along with two extra batteries. Rather have too many than not enough. They should arrive on Thursday. Fortunately I'll be able to recharge them each night. Think I'll order the adapter mentioned on another thread from nextphoto.
Thanks!
