I need some help from the experts here. What I want to do is have a shot of a room. Then I want a self portrait of me in the room. I want to combine the two so that only my face, hands and feet show. The body in between will be transparent showing the room through. I'm getting very frustrated trying to figure out the proper technique to accomplish this.

Bring your portrait image into your shot of the room on its own layer. Put a layer mask on the portrait layer by clicking the add mask icon at the bottom of the layers palette. Click on the mask to make it active and paint with black where you want to hide your body and let the background (room) layer show thru. Use a soft edge low flow brush and gradually paint where you want the edges to be to give a soft blend-in.

Thanks again! This is what I was trying to accomplish, though I need to practice some more to get the results I'm looking for.
