I got here a Canon 350D and a Canon Lens EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM. Well, I was wondering what teleconverter should I add to in order to increase zoom power. I read that a Kenko 1.4X is better than 2X as it gives better quality and doesn't lose autofocus.

So what do you recommend me? I need something that fits this lens and gives me increased power plus good quality image.

Thanks in advance.

Can anyone offer me some advice, please?

Thanks.

You will lose AF at 300 mm if you use a 1.4X TC, so your 70 300 will become a manual 100-420@ f8, IS should continue to work

You will aslo lose sharpness with a TC
I have not seen too many examples of the 70 300 being used with a TC

As long as you get the cheaper 1.5x Kenko TC you may still have AF in good light/contrast conditions. The more expensive 1.4x pro TC from Kenko will cut off AF operation when the f-value goes over f5.6 (and it does with an 1.4x TC, add one f-stop...).

The cheaper 1.5x TC is actually also an 1.4x TC... go figure. And it also is optically good.

The 2x TC's just will lose you too much resolution of the lens, and combined with NO AF performance at all (since you rob the AF sensors of 2 extra f-stops of light/contrast) this will not make for a very happy combination.

I bought the cheap 1.5x Kenko to try on my 70-300 IS and 20D. It will focus ok in bright sunlight on AI Servo. In other conditions or other focus modes, it usually just cycles focus and never lock on anything. Others have reported better luck, but for me it's a no-go.
