Anyone out there done some serious comparisons of the "picture adjustment settings" (sharpness, contrast, noise reduction, etc.) of the fz cameras and whether they matter that much (or whether you can do the same effect using postprocessing)?

Anybody know if there's any good information on what the "picture adjustment" settings actually do? (e.g. the comments in the fz20 manual for noise reduction that say "noise reduction effect is enhanced. The resolution of the picture may be slightly deteriorated." makes me think they're doing a spatial low-pass filter, but of course we're all not smart enough to understand the technical details, right?)

Or are there any suggestions for what kind of test pictures to try that would make the effects of these settings more clear? (e.g. a picture with lots of colors, some bright areas & some dark areas)

Steves Digicams - Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ15 - User Review

Check this out. some make more of a difference than others, or should I say a significant difference. But I would rather get the shot right or close to what I want with minimal post imaging work. Even though I love my PSP:-)
